Some updates: temporary fix for Blogger/MS IE

Hopefully, our final update: IE and SiteMeter seem to be back on speaking terms now per Mike in Texas (thanks, Mike).
--------
#1 - Scott Hankins reports that removing site meter from his blog made it accessible using MS Internet Explorer.

#2 - Many of you are having problems accessing blogs using PC-based Microsoft Internet Explorer. All these sites - and not all are hosted by Blogger - seem to be using Sitemeter. This is a problem that must be addressed by the blog owner. But you can help by passing this information along to them. (I have also sent a message to the help center at Sitemeter, for what that's worth).

So far, all these sites can be accessed using Firefox browser for PCs. It is my primary browser and I like it, some do not. You can check out the Firefox at
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/. This link is to the U.S. English page, but they have several local language versions.

I suspected google analytics, but they won't let us delete it without deleting blogger, too. If they are the culprit, well, things will work out as they will work out. However, I find it very odd that I have access, and Terry and Mark don't. I'd vote for "sitemeter".

:-)

Can anybody explain what this is about?

What is a site meter? What is Firefox?

Grandmère Mimi has a warning that Blogger doesn't work. Mad Priest doesn't work. Several others don't work either.

Some on the other hand do work...

EpiScope doesn’t work, though it is Typepad not Blogger. Father Jake’s old place does. Elizabeth Keaton doesn’t. The Friends of Jake does. Of Course I Could Be On Vacation doesn’t (the sign comes after a while). Tobias Haller doesn’t. Toujoursdan does. The Swedish blogs I have tried all seem to work. Margaret (Leave it where Jesus flang it) is OK. So is Off topic allowed.

Göran -

Sitemeter is a program blog owners use to track statistics on visitors to their sites. There are several of these programs that people use, and some do not use them at all. The blog owner has to remove the program; so unfortunately, there is nothing you can do on your end.

Firefox is a web browser http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
that competes with Microsoft Internet Explorer. It is available in several languages, the link above takes you directly to the download site. You may wish to read the general information, first.

But the why do some work and others not? It doesn't seem to be Blogger related since epiScope gets the same treatment on Typepad???

What's up?

I checked the background code on Episcope - they use Sitemeter as well. So the arguing forces (as such) are Sitemeter and MS Internet Explorer. You may have just about tapped out my knowledge there...but I will see if I can report a problem with Sitemeter (I don't use their software, I might not beable to get into that part of their help section).

Thanks for your effort!

I understand even less than you do!

My own Blog (which has no sitemeter and thus was not involved in this, but hasn't been reachable since November 2006) is now back!

I manged to give it a new password insted of the old one (damaged it appears).

I wish to thank who-ever-it-was who provided the link to Blogger Help Group the other day!
