Sunday Music: We're Rockin' Today

A bit on the darker side here, but a powerful message. From the reigning queen of the Christian Rock genre, Natalie Grant:

It might be time to cycle back to Rutter next Sunday...

Lynn,

Nice pick! Reminds me of all of us. I am an old acid rock dude from a way back. The Shrine auditorium and I are good friends. Monterey was my musical highlight. I usually do not do Christian rock, or at least in small doses. But, here are the lyrics, it fits many of us to perfection(*?!). Maybe we should consider this as one of our anthems.

"Will Not Be Moved"

I have been the wayward child
I have acted out
I have questioned Sovereignty
And had my share of doubt
And though sometimes my prayers feel like
They're bouncing off the sky
The hand I hold won't let me go
And is the reason why...

[Chorus:]
I will stumble
I will fall down
But I will not be moved
I will make mistakes
I will face heartache
But I will not be moved
On Christ the Solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
I will not be moved

Bitterness has plagued my heart
Many times before
My life has been like broken glass
And I have kept the score
Of all my shattered dreams and though it seemed
That I was far too gone
My brokenness helped me to see
It's grace I'm standing on

[Chorus]

And the chaos in my life
Has been a badge I've worn
Though I have been torn
I will not be moved

Well, my new career will be as drummer in a rock band. As far as Sunday posts go, I have long thought that variety is the spice of life.

Scott, I agree generally - and about the Sunday music as well.

Scott, anyone - if you have a favorite to share my email is below. We'll keep it a secret and you get credit for the find, of course. I learned about Natalie Grant from a friend that listens to the local "Christian" station - mostly for the music, but he picks up some funny stories to pass along, too.

I LOVE this song. It is already one of my new anthems. When I'm alone in the car and it comes on the radio, I crank it up and sing along. Natalie Grant is scheduled to be at the Sacramento REVOLVE Tour event. I am SO hoping we can get a group together to go, but I'm just not getting enough commitment from people despite already having two scholarships paid for and ready to go. I think our local girls could make this their anthem as well. This song is the top song on my myspace playlist right now, too. I just LOVE it! The class I work with has a "theme song" this year and it is the old gospel hymn "We Shall Not Be Moved." Whenever the teacher plays it, I end up going around singing Natalie Grant's song the rest of the day. Anyhow, I was excited to see this, in case you didn't notice.
